The CT Chargers program was conceived in 2005. The lacrosse scene in Connecticut was on a competitive growth spurt. High School boys & girls lacrosse programs in the area were reaching new heights, as well as having players more and more interested in playing year round. In speaking with different parents and players from lower Fairfield County towns the reoccurring theme was building a high caliber lacrosse program aimed at enriching the game for elite players by giving them an expanding opportunity to play with high level talent.
The concept of CT Chargers was designed to be developmental and fun while improving on lacrosse skills and game concepts practicing and playing with players that had a similar goal. At the same time, we knew having the best quality coaching staff is what would set us apart from the other other club programs in Connecticut.
The summer of 2006 was the first year of having established girls and boys CT Chargers teams participating in the summer tournament circuit. How CT Chargers differed from other club team programs already established, was the addition of team practices and implementing our vision of developing players’ skill level, not just showcasing them at tournaments. Team chemistry is one of the most fundamental needs for a good performance which is why I believe we have grown into the program we are today. We still have multiple practices and clinics designed to bring the skill set of the player and the team to its highest level.
Our program and our reputation have blossomed tremendously. We have doubled our size, diversified our coaching staff, and bring different aspects of college playing and coaching backgrounds. Our boys and girls teams have won tournament championships, have been recruited and committed to top Division I and III schools and have been part of winning NCAA Championship teams! Our talent has gotten stronger and more vital over the years and the demand for MORE lacrosse has allowed us to expand the program and we now participate in Fall Ball Season tournaments along the east coast.
As CT Chargers Lacrosse Club enters our 9th successful summer season, I believe our reputation and vision speak for themselves. Never satisfied, we continue to look for ways to bring CT Chargers services and coaching staff to the next level and continuously strive to succeed on and off the field. We are looking forward to what the future holds for all current participants and alumni of the CT Chargers program.
